The weekly classes are open to all. We encourage all levels of practitioners to come to enjoy, learn, and experience the peacefulness found in nature as much as in the yoga. Juliet teaches class every Friday morning and the weekend classes at 9am are various instructors from Yoga on Union. All instructors from Yoga on Union bring a sense of compassion, a lift of humor, and the ability to teach clearly with knowledge and experience. Styles range from Iyengar Yoga to Slow Flow to Hatha Yoga. its all there for you.

Kundalini Yoga with John Monsato

This yoga practice will focus on the basics of postures, breath and meditation with Kundalini yoga, a physical, mental and spiritual practice for developing strength, awareness, character, and consciousness. This technology uses active and postural asana based kriyas, breath, and meditations to target whole body systems. John Montano leads these wonderful practice. It's a great way to start your day!

Full Spectrum Practice with Juliet Loranger

This practice will be instructed by Juliet Loranger and will include some vinyasa (sun salutations), Pranayama (breath work), chanting and meditation. Along with these you will learn alignment and form in a range of postures and a range of stages (from basic to intermediate). The fullness of an hour and a half of yoga to add to your mid-week a feeling of fortitude and joy. Juliet leads these classes that are open to all levels.

A gong bath is like a very deep and lasting massage, that tunes the physical body and soul to the greatest possible resonance. Usually individuals lie on a mat in savansana (flat one one's back with your arms by your side) to receive the sound energy of the gong as it is being played, moving through the nervous system - opening, clearing and recharging the body, mind and spirit, which triggers a meditative, contemplative state in which you have the opportunity to relinquish thoughts and relax. Negativity and stress are suspended, resistence cleared and the you are "reset" to a state of synchrony and alignment.

Backbends in yoga are happening in poses that we sometimes don't even realize there are backbends there....and other times we are certain there's a backbend happening. Are we sure that we are creating these 'backbend' shapes safely? Not only safely but with resonance and respect? Maybe...but are you interested in how to truly know?

Join Juliet for this 2.5 hour workshop that is 100% alignment focused. It will be chock-full of awareness, body mechanics, and improvement strategies. Juliet will have this workshop designed for all levels of yoga experience, but please do have some experience under your belt. You will receive personal instruction and heart warming encouragement.

After this event you will leave with a composition of why we backbend in yoga, how to do it safely, and with a knowing of the patience it takes to go forward and upward in order to pay tribute to bending backwards.

Open Hearts | Open Skies is an overnight yoga retreat that blends nature, yoga, music and peace into our lives over a warm and wonderful summer weekend. All activities are based out of our Stone Barn property.

Your registration will include tent camping at our Stone Barn property for each registered participant. You are responsible for providing your camping gear.

Saturday - Arrive ready for morning yoga from 9am to 10:45am with live music by Anthony Savino, followed by a light breakfast and time to set up your camping gear. You are free to enjoy lunch on your own and perhaps some time at the beach before reconvening at the Barn for a long afternoon yoga workshop from 2-4:30pm that is suitable for all levels. We will then all meet for dinner at the Barn followed by a bonfire and comraderie.

Sunday - Awaken to a 7am meditation session before our 9am yoga practice. Coffee, tea and breakfast items will be provided after practice. After you've refueled, we will walk the Quansett trail to the field station where we'll break for light refreshments before heading back to the Barn (a nice leisurely hike of approximately 6 miles). After our hike ends, you're free to enjoy the Sanctuary on your own as we break down camping gear and the retreat ends.

Tonight is the first night of this extraordinary weekend and Nichol will be leading a class at Yoga on Union in New Bedford. It's not only a class with yoga poses but kirtan too!Nichol is a trained singer, Operatic singer and she will lead us through chanting in Sanskrit with the accompaniment of the harmonium.


3 HOUR EXPAND YOUR PRACTICE WITH JULIET LORANGER & NICHOL CHASE

Focus on standing poses. Expanding in your stance is a daily discovery. We stand, walk, gain ground all day, every day. In this practice we will create valuable foundational connections to our stance, to our presence in standing postures. Juliet and Nichol will be providing a stream of instruction and inspiration to encourage a new sense of where and how foundations in a pose can be improved upon, so that there can be expansion. The experience will be slower, more of a Hatha style, so you won’t be exhausted with too much work in 3 hours. There will be layers of sequencing and information, which will make the class an open to all levels of practice experience. Join these two great instructors as you stand strong while learning so much about this long standing practice of yoga.


3 HOUR EXPAND YOUR PRACTICE WITH JULIET LORANGER & NICHOL CHASE

Focus on Backbends and Arm Balances and Hips Openers. This practice will be the bomb, oh yeah! Juliet and Nichol are driving the bus here on the road to fun. What happens on the road to fun you ask? Backbending and Arm Balancing & Hip-Openers. First stop, Backbends, an open yet mysterious type of yoga pose that’s oh so accessible when done with care! Nichol will show you all around the mechanics and alignment of several backbend poses, and how to expand as you feel totally confident. Next we get to the balancing part of practice and Juliet will show you the ins and outs of arm balances and forward folds. These types of poses are the perfect compliment to a backbend. The playful nature of both backbend and arm balances will lead us to our destination of hip openers as a way to release, turn in and enjoy. Fit for all levels of practice, expect all kinds of fun!
